Jesse James: The Man, the Monster, and his Domain
We were going to start this bio, just like any other… Jesse James was born and raised … However, with so many covering, the tattooed monster we decide it is best to cover the importance of his being. You will not read about his private affairs and his life out side the garage, as our website celebrates Jesse’s artisanship.
Jesse James is the epitome of the motorcycle outlaw. After all, he is that of outlaw royalty; his great-great-grandfather was the famous outlaw's cousin. However, this image is only a small part of Jesse James' persona: There is his passion as an artisan, he finely designs meticulous chromed beast that define the very essence of Chopper. He is a master fabricator, although he will tell you he is just a glorified welder. He is committed and passionate to his expertise. He is a man, who does not take "No" for an answer. His hard work and his ethic speak volumes for itself, as his beginnings were meager, but his passion developed him into a multi-million dollar force not to be reckoned with.
Jesse’s beginnings were sparked by his father’s shop, a small antique business, which resided next door to an aftermarket motorcycle warehouse. This is where the fire ignited in him, at age seven; he owned his first mini-bike, in his teen years he made his first exhaust system in his mother’s garage. During his youth, he was also a troublemaker. The notorious monster of Monster Garage, has said himself, he was always in trouble at one time or another. His gentle exterior leads to the heart of a little devil.
During high school and college Jess played football his position was a linebacker, unfortunately his career was cut short due to a knee injury. Since his career in sports did not pan out the well-built lad went on to become a bodyguard for several 80’s metal bands, some of these bands can be seen on Monster Garage. Again, after
sustaining another injury the giant had to change careers.
Jesse’s idea was to pursue something that he has loved from childhood: motorcycles. He began this career by working under the helm of the infamous Boyd Coddington. In 1992, the mammoth monster had enough of working under someone else’s helm. He forged out on his own; the creation that set Jesse James on the map began West Coast Choppers.
WCC started out small, the residence was a corner in his friend’s garage. With no loan and no partners, Jess built it from his vision from the ground up. Now he has over eighty employees, housed in an 18,000 square foot facility, which is home to Long Beach CA.
West Coast Choppers builds, fabricates, and designs some of the finest choppers on the streets. The bikes are built to be ridden, and rode hard. Jess and his team of artisans are notorious worldwide; they build design for the Hollywood elite, to the regular Joe who has money to burn. Each beast can cost anywhere from the low end, $80,000 to the high end exceeding $190,000 it is rumored; that there is a yearlong waiting period for their metallic beasts.
In 2002, a producer from Original Productions, Thom Beers, was in search of an artisan to be the onslaught of a series of Television shows highlighting the art of building a chopper. Thom stumbled upon his future h Jesse James; and Motorcycle Mania was soon featured on the Discovery Channel. Beers apparently like the good-looking Southern Cal boy, as he quickly shifted into high gear creating a TV series called Monster Garage. M.G. began a feverish phenomenon, taking stock cars, and turning them into wild outrageous, creatures. Each car has a theme and each build showcases talents of mechanics from all occupations. Some famous or notorious for their skills, some are just the average person who has a dream to dare. As the show sparks its way into America’s hearts websites like this one spawn and develop rapidly. At last count, MG has well over 20 different sites and each day another site pops up as the fever spreads like wildfire.
As of recent, Mr. James wrote a book an autobiographical titled “I Am Jesse James”. Because in past some one who shall remain nameless wrote a biography and truth be told the book was packed full of lies. Mr. James would not have this and has been rather outspoken with his many masses telling them the man who wrote the book is full of shit. Since Jesse’s book release, fans have flocked to stores and his autobiography is flying off the shelves.
Back in Long Beach across the street from West Coast Choppers, is another new chapter in Jesse’s life, the master of the two-wheeled world is crossing over to the world of four wheels. Jesse James strikes again forging metal into cars. His cars feature as his choppers signature pieces that Jesse has made staple in the many circles of bike, car, and monster lover.
The mammoth legend has become as his ancestry, a one of a kind legend that makes women giddy and weak in knee and men want to be just like him.
